Let it GO!!!

“But Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back to the things left behind is fit for the kingdom of God.”  (Luke 6:62)

As I sit with my 2 year old daughter watching the movie Frozen, the lead character begins to sing the song “Let it Go”.  These particular words instantly grab my attention:

It’s funny how some distance

Makes everything seem small

And the fears that once controlled me Can’t get to me at all

It’s time to see what I can do

To test the limits and break through

No right, no wrong, no rules for me

In popular culture, women are being enticed into displaying petty and manipulative behavior. The ‘side-eye’ is common, in jest and in reality.  Hard-heartedness is considered preferable to being kind or sweet. Even women of the church sometimes pride themselves on their ability to “go there if they need to”.  For many, they need to know that their base level is there as a fall-back just in case their nice side does not protect or get them what they want.

Why is it so difficult to cultivate a gracious spirit?  Overall, I see that as people we are losing our ability to be civil and Christ-like in our dealings with each other.  We do not want to be taken advantage of…
